Race report by Ray Reeves.

Conditions for last weekend were perfect, light winds 18c in the water, but maybe a little warm for the run. In a big field, the 1500m, 2 lap swim went well in just over 26mins. Then into one of the longest transitions I’ve ever seen. T1 went well and, after a long run to the mount line, I got into a quick rhythm on a closed road circuit, only being passed by 2 other racers but passing loads on the 40km course. I went a little harder than I would normally while still keeping a little reserved for the run.  Again, T2 went well and out to the 10km run.  I finished strong but completely spent.  I was pleased with 9th in category in a time of 2:22:34 . This was better than I could have hoped for in what was a very strong field, with the winner coming in in 2:06, almost 5 mins in front of the second placed guy who was 3 mins in front of third place. Racing in the Sprint race for a qualifying place in the European Champs was Malcolm Macfarlane finishing in 11th place 1;13:24 in what was also a very strong field.
