Open Water Swimming

Pip MooreNews, Swimming, Triathlon

Open water swimming starts again on Saturday 27th April at Larkwood Lakes, 10:30-12:00. Please be aware that all swimmers will be asked to complete the club’s disclaimer so that records are up to date. It would be beneficial to complete the form before arrival so water time can be maximised. Whilst the predicted weather will continue to warm the water, full length wetsuits will be mandatory as the current temperature is struggling to reach double figures.
Just so you are aware, the site has now been converted to accommodate caravans and camping. This will not effect the swimming session but may have an impact on parking. The site owner is looking into various options and we will let you know the details once finalised.
We will be using the same normal operating procedure (NOP) as last year where each participant will be issued with a numbered wrist band, on which their emergency contact details will be written.
Each participant must wear their allocated wrist band for the duration of their swim so it can be used in case of an emergency.
All Risk Assessment and Emergency Action Plan documentation has been updated to meet BTF requirements and available on request. This has additional information to those found on the website which will be updated as soon as possible.
The cost of the session is £4 and this year we are also able to offer coaching as part of some sessions. We look forward to seeing lots of you at the lake and watch this space for the updates mentioned and details about junior open water sessions.

As with many of our events and activities, volunteers are needed to ensure safe and successful sessions.  If you could offer some support for any of the sessions, there will be a sign up sheet at the lake or you can email Ray or Malcolm directly.
