Neville Pettitt (BEM) Honoured

adminNews

Our very own chairman, Neville Pettitt, has been recognised in the 2017 New Year’s Honours list for his services to cycling with a British Empire Medal. We all know Neville’s outstanding efforts, not only in teaching hundreds of kids to ride a bike as recognised by Her Majesty, but also the innumerable jobs he does within the club. From timekeeping TTs to tea making, Neville is the heartbeat of our club; we’d be a little bit lost without him (not least because he’s truly the only one who knows how to fit all those bike bits, banners, signs and fence posts into the storage unit!)

British Cycling speak of Neville in the same breath as the great Brian Robinson (British Cycling Stars Honoured), which gives us a good measure of his achievement. Local media, EADT and Bury Free Press also recognise Neville’s contribution to community life.

The reaction on the club Facebook page amply demonstrates just how well deserved this honour is. Congratulations Neville!
