Junior Open Water Swimming Session

Pip MooreNews, Swimming, Triathlon

The club would like to extend its use of our open water swimming venue and offer a one off session to our WSW junior/BTF members on 30th June 12:00-12:30. (£3 per Junior). Future sessions maybe considered, depending upon interest.

Obviously, safety is paramount so the detailed operating procedure has been written to ensure everyone’s wellbeing.

Please take time to read the normal operating procedure (below) to avoid any disappointment.

Wetsuits and bright swim caps are mandatory (Wetsuits help with buoyancy)

All children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a nominated chaperone when in the water.
(Less confident parents must nominate a friend/relative who is competent in open water – chaperones will not be provided.)

Children over 14 may swim unaccompanied providing the club is confident and has prior knowledge of their swimming ability.

Parents are to remain on site at all times and must supervise their child getting changed.

All swimmers will be given a numbered wrist band which must be worn for the duration of the swim. The band will allow us to identify who is still in the water and will be handed back to the safety team upon exit from the water.

The standard club disclaimer must be signed by all participants and can be found on the club website.

WSW Disclaimer form

All participants will be briefed prior to their swim. The brief will include information such as current water and weather conditions, water etiquette and emergency procedures.

Spotters will be placed around the lake to assist and raise the alarm if necessary.

Swimmers will swim anti-clockwise around the 4 red marker buoys

I hope you will be able to join us at Larkwood Fisheries and take advantage of this opportunity
