Dawn Raid 2024 – Sunday 14 July

Stephen BrookNews, Social Rides

Our annual dawn raid is getting close!! It’s time to go and see the sea!!!

This year we are heading to Thorpeness for breakfast. It’s been a good few years since we visited last.

I have spoken to the cafe, we are unable to book any tables but they have said we should be ok for seating at our estimated arrival time of 9:30.

In light of that I would suggest we leave promptly at 6:00 to allow a bit of stop time for punctures etc.

The cafe has no specific requirements for food this year, so we can choose what we like when we get there. You can view a menu in advance here : https://thekitchenatgroup.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Thorpeness-Menu-MARCH-2024.pdf

The route is 108 miles, hopefully in the sun, with a tailwind all the way home !

Here’s the route for garmin :

Alternatively you can download a GPX file here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZvEbizL872eeeSnsFwxYrNnnLgijh1jA/view?usp=drive_link

If anyone has difficulty downloading the route please get in touch with Jason Alcock and he can send it direct.

So leave time 6am from the club room, return usually by 1pm ish.

As usual with the dawn raid, we will be heading there as one group ( depending on numbers we may have a 10 minute gap? ) at cappuccino pace then heading back in two groups. This will be determined at the cafe when we leave and the pace will usually be Cappuccino / Espresso split.

As a club we are inclusive and do not want to rule anyone out, so if anyone would like to organise a separate dawn raid on the day with a pace and distance that suits a particular group then please step forward and I will assist in any way I can.

Look forward to seeing you all on the dawn raid morning!!
