A Tight One For The Tin – Fred Filby 2018

A healthy turnout of 25 riders dragged their pudding laden bodies out for the prestigious Boxing Day morning Fred Filby TT. A healthy turnout didn’t necessarily translate into healthy competitors as there might have been a few nursing the after effects of the previous day’s festivities. With the target time format there was no need to thrash around the 10 miles of the Horringer TT course though and that meant there was plenty of good cheer and Christmas spirit in the line up awaiting the send off from timekeeper David Ballam. Neville Pettitt had the hardest job of the day in calculating the differences between actual and target times and given the fine margins at the top it was an important job.

Matt Shingleton ended up pipping David Young for the trophy; Matt coming in 9 seconds from target compared to David’s 12 seconds. Viv Smith and Barry Denny couldn’t be separated and shared third spot. Full results are below:
