Following the participation of a host of members in last weekend’s Tour of the Cornfields Off Road Sportive ~ a precursor to the start of the CX season ~ the Eastern league got underway on Sunday at the Springfield course in Chelmsford. Good weather brought out some fast racing with Sam Brook riding well to 11th in the U16 race. Megan Free was 15th in the women’s race, with Stephen Brook and Simon Christie contesting the 40-49 race coming home in 27th and 41st place respectively. Peter Golding was almost ‘late on parade’ but still managed 13th in the 50+ race (4th over 60), with Karl Hale 56th and Nick Rush 64th in a very full field in that race. Harley Gregory had his first race in the combined Jnr/Snr one hour race and finished 13th overall and 4th Junior. More action next week at Hillyfields, Colchester.
