Rita Rue and Megan Free win the ladies time trial and road bike series respectively, while Matt Shingleton takes the men’s trophy, with Matt Eaglen dominating the Road Bike series. Eaglen also dominates the Collard Shield!
With 54 riders competing in this year’s season long time-trial series Matt Shingleton and Rita Rue are crowned the male and female West Suffolk Wheelers Time Trial champions, with a close tussle with come-back man David Giffin and Megan Free respectively.
Winning 6 of the events compared to David Griffin’s 4, Matt won with a slender margin of 13 points, with Richard Farrow finishing in a distant 3rd. Even closer was the ladies competition with Rita Rue piping Megan Free by 6 points. With both Rita and Megan competing on road bikes the positions where reversed in the Road competition with Megan beating Rue by just 2 points.
In the men’s Road Bike series, Matt Eaglen dominated the Road Bike winning 8 of the events, with Peter Nichols in 2nd and Matt Denny in 3rd. The Collard Shield was also dominated by Matt who achieved an amazing 10 personal bests, improving on every course. Megan Free was 2nd 7 pb’s, with David Giffin and Rita Rue in joint 3rd.
