Plenty of action from our Triathletes over the last couple of weeks at Culford Sprint Triathlon and at the World Series in Leeds.
Culford Sprint Triathlon
Sunday 5th June Culford sprint triathlon 300m swim, bike 21km, run 4km
Darren Sharman went one better than last years 3rd place overall with a great 2nd place finishing in 55:28. Darren’s splits were swim 5:06 – bike 33:12 – Run y 15:06. Returning club member Kevin Murphy made it two WSW&TC finishers in the top ten with a 10th place finishing in 59:34. Michael Hatcher improved on his 2015 time with 1:09:07 and Simon Kitching came in at 1:11:47. Jill Wilshaw made it three age group wins this season with 1:11:47, closely followed by team mate Nicole Gregory 1:17:04.
World Series – Leeds
Last weekend (11th/12th June) things went up a gear with members competing against the big boys (and girls) at Staffordshire half iron 70.3 and the World Series in Leeds.
First up on Friday in Leeds Pip Moore competed in the Triathlon England Aquathlon, claiming a fabulous 2nd in age group. Swim 11:42 run 20:52. Saturday saw the open sprint race with Pip Moore going again along with wife Helen Samuel, a fellow age group triathlete. At the time of writing provisional results show Pip 2nd in age group and Helen 3rd in age group.
Sunday saw the standard distance race with Ray Reeves and Malcolm McFarlane flying the West Suffolk flag. Despite carrying a foot injury, Ray completed the swim and bike sections of the race in good times, Malcolm covered the course in 2:37:07.
Staffordshire Half Ironman 70.3
In Staffordshire Laura brown took part in the Ironman 70.3, recording a PB over the race distance in 5:48:41 – smashing her previous best of 6:06.
