The season’s opener of the Revel Outdoors 2017 Winter Series MTB races took place at Santon Downham near Brandon on Sunday 30th Oct. Organised by Kings Lynn MTB and the first of a series of four, the ground and weather conditions were first class which, together with a fast, free flowing and largely single track course of some 6 miles, made for superb racing.
In the Senior’s race (1.5 hours duration), Jake Towler carried on his debut season’s road racing successes with a fine 10th place (4 laps/1:47:41).
Taking a break from cyclo cross racing, Paul Watson was on his usual top form, bossing around the business end of the Veteran Male 1.5 hour race and was rewarded with a well earned 5th place. In the same race, Darren Baker slogged around for 61st (3 laps/1:38:22).
Malcolm Borg sandwiched his 3 hour Veteran Male race between a 70 round cycle trip to and from his home, but still managed a very respectable 34th (6 laps/3:06:24).
In the Junior Male category, Robin Lines finished 5th (3/1:35:12).
