Wheelers Endure Wet Conditions at World Series

Pip MooreNews, Running, Swimming, Triathlon

A very wet and miserable Saturday morning greeted several of our triathletes for part of the World Series weekend in Leeds.  The weather didn’t dampen enthusiasm and first off, with a very early start, was Oscar Woodward in the Tri Star 3 Triathlon.  Oscar completed the course, which included an open water swim, in a fantastic time of 31:21 to claim overall 19th.

Helen Samuel and Pip Moore were the next Wheelers in action in the National Aquathlon Championships (swim and run, no bike). A more respectable start time, but still wet conditions, saw them tackle the 750m swim in Waterloo Lake, followed by 5km (2 laps) of Roundhay Park.  Helen was pleased to achieve her goal of a top 10 finish (9th).  Ironically, her time of 43:17 would have seen her take 5th place in several, younger age categories.  With a 32 seconds improvement on last year’s time, Pip was able to take a 3rd place podium in a time of 35:06.

Well done also to the Blackwells for their fantastic support 👍
