WSW had a great start to the Eastern Cyclo Cross League on Sunday at Springfield, near Chelmsford – a fast course known for the 3 flights of steps to be climbed each lap. Ella and Erin Stewart were 4th and 3rd respectively in U14 and U12 Girls. Harley Gregory had a convincing win in the U16s, with Sam Brook 9th in the U14 category in that race. Megan Free rode gamely in the Open Women’s race coming in 19th, whilst Peter Golding rode well to 9th in the Over 50 race, and 2nd in the Over 60 section. Karl Hale was 49th and Nick Rush 63rd in a very full field of older riders. Matt Denny had his best ride for ages to come in 13th in the 40-49 race, with Stephen Brook 22nd. Round two is at Milton, Cambridge, next Sunday 3 October.
